Mood : relieved

Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely things I like about it, but still I’m glad its over.  I love the sense of togetherness, and I love the time spent with family.  That seems to be fading quickly, as my siblings are growing up and moving on with their lives and their own families, and whatnot, but still it is there.  I love that people feel compelled to give to the food shelf, salvation army, etc. but at the same time wish that it didn’t take a holiday to get us all to give back a little time or money.  And it would be nice if more people realized that more important than giving your money is volunteering your time.

But why I am glad it is over is because now I will be able to get within 2 miles of a mall without having to drive like I am secret service to avoid accidents.  No longer will I have to see ads on TV promoting that you should show that special someone you love them by buying a matching pair of Lexus cars for their present.  Yes, for another 11 months, I can forget that Christmas, complete with the American deisre to overcomercialize it, exists at all.  And most people can go back to being a little patient and understanding on the road.  Not that I am saying that people are automatically patient on the road, only that what little patience they have is usually lost during the “Most Wonderful time of the Year”.

And now that it’s all over, I can stop wondering if the gifts that I got for my family memebers are good enough, and know that everyone was happy in their own way with mine.  Who knows, maybe next year I will feel different when I am actually not only employed but making a decent living.  But for now, Bah Humbug. ;)

Just thought I would wish everyone a happy or merry whatever it is you celebrate.  We commonly think of it as Merry Christmas, but knowing that not everybody who reads this is either from the US or a christian (not that I think Christmas is all that religious anymore anyways, but I digress) I figure I’d better be all inclusive.

But its still a post made on December 25th, so take that for what it’s worth.

Graduated…..

12-21-07

Mood : happy

Yup, thats right, after two and a half years of hard work, I have met all requirements for graduation!

Now, while I am excited about this, I am also nervous as this means I once again have to go join the real world, but I am one step closer to completing the ultimate goal of complete financial independence, which is something I have been working on now for a number of years.

Moving out should happen here by May, and I have pretty much already picked out where I am moving to, thanks to a couple of friends who also recently moved there, and have shown me that the place isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.  As a matter of fact, I’d say the place is pretty nice, but if I tell you all where it is, you’ll snap up all the vacancies before I get the chance to sign on the dotted line.

The year has seemingly flown right by me, as it’s quickly coming to a close.  I say quickly, because as we all know December goes by rather quickly.

Perhaps its because of the week and a half cold that I’m just getting over, or the fact that I have been in school for around 10 hours a day this semester, but I for one welcome the end of the year.  For me it means graduation, a step upward from where I was before.  When I start the new year, I will be employable in the IT field, and with any luck, I will also have a job lined up.

But I will also be sad to see the end of the year approach.  I will miss going to classes, or hanging out with all those people that I have met at school.  It’s been 2.5 years there, and there are some great memories, and some not so great memories.  But one thing is for sure, I am going to miss the 40+ minute commute each way to go learn some stuff with some overall great people.

But, such is life, constantly changing.  And there’s some big changes coming up in the new year.  Stay tuned!
