And what better way to add polling to this site than to start with the question that plagues us all.  Who will you vote for?  This poll is open from now until Feburary 1, 2007, and you are only allowed one vote per IP address.  Have fun and I’ll likely do this again later this year as time goes by.

So, I am still looking for a job, but nothing new to report.

I do have several things in the pot.  I had an interview today, and two interviews last week, as well as a written interview this weekend, and a few phone interviews as well.  I am extremely optomistic about several of the job prospects, and sure hope to have something more definite by the end of the week.

But, as I referred to earlier, they are saying we are on the midst of a recession.  And in our 24 hour news society, simply saying it is enough to cause many employers to be cautions.  Also, it is the beginning of the year, so it can be a busy time for many of these management type people.

As usual, I’ll keep ya posted!

Mood : relieved

Well, that wasn’t so bad!  Like I thought, they don’t have anything immediate, but it sounds like if I’m still available in the spring (I sure hope not!) that they might have an opprotunity for me then!

I felt good about how the interview itself went, and it was very good practice.  And now, in addition, I have a set of feelers out there for me, which it never hurts to have when your looking for a job while the rest of the country is crying recession. ;)

Mood : excited

Well, its been a few days since the last job hunt update, so here goes.

I have been recieving about 1-2 calls a day at this point, and I have been putting out easily 3 times that amount in job applications.  My first interview is tomorrow, with a Contract and Contract to Hire company.  It doesn’t sound like they have any immediate opprotunities available, but I am certainly open to going that route, because its a good way to gain experience quickly.

Plus, realizing they don’t have immediate opprotunities, its at least a good way to brush up on my interviewing skills, and to start to get a feel for what an IT interview is like, since I have done customer service ones for so long.  But keep in mind that I have been out of the work market now for like 4 years, so this is all going to take some getting used to.

Mood : tired

I think its been something like 5 months, but after a long absense, me and Rielly went back to Duluth to see a friend up there.

Definitely a good time as always, but as usual I am exhausted now.

Mood : satisfied

I’m just simply amazed, but I am getting calls back from posting my resume online already.  Both sound like really good fits for me, so hopefully one or the other pans out, but if not, it was a great confidence booster.  One pays exactly what I was hoping to get (to pay the bills) and one is slighlty more than what I was hoping to get.

Like I said, either way its a confidence booster.  While I don’t want to give out the details of what companies they are for, lets just say that one would look particularily good on my resume, and would be a company that I have always wanted to work for.

Mood : optimistic

So I finally got the resume done.  I’m still not thrilled with it, but overall I think its a great resume.  I posted it to every career site that I can think of, and will continue to watch out for them.   Tomorrow comes getting out three applications, and we’ll see if posting them has any affect on this.

Mood : optimistic

So, I have been kind of unmotivated to do anything for the past few weeks.  Finishing school finally hit me, and I guess I was overwhelmed with what I had coming up.  What do I do next, where do I go from here?  Are my skills going to be good enough?

Yes, and I can go anywhere I want to go, this is just the beginning of a new chapter in my life.  The pages are blank, but I need to just write them one page at a time.  So, today, I am breaking down the process little by little, and setting up a timeline.  Tomorrow, I put the absolute final touches on my Resume, and get it posted to all the job sites.  Friday, and for each weekday after that until I get a job, I am making it my personal goal to apply for three jobs, Resume, Coverletter, and all.  Aside from not wanting to work in downtown Minneapolis or downtown St. Paul, all other areas are open.  And every interview will be taken, every job will be applied for.  Even if I don’t meet all the qualifications.  Who knows, perhaps I meet enough of them to justify bringing me on for training.  I AM an up and comer after all.  I just finished school.

I am of course looking to pay my bills, so I do have a dollar figure in mind, but experience is more important to me than money.  This is JUST the beginning, the money will come.  I AM good at what I do, and I am passionate about the Information Systems field.

Yeah, the future looks bright, and completely financially dependent on myself.
