After almost six months on the job as a temp, they made (and I promptly accepted) a job offer!  I wouldn’t have signed it, had I not thought it was fair.  My boss said that he was very happy with the work I did for him and the company over the past six months.

So aside from getting 3 weeks pd vacation, 10 paid holidays, health, dental, optional vision, 401k, etc, I also get a pretty decent raise.  I’m now on the upper end of the range for money for my position, and overall I got a 25% bump.

Not bad, but the best part is that I really enjoy where I work.  And no matter how bad the economy is, no matter how much one gets paid, there is nothing better than enjoying both the work you do and where you do it.

The money thing just makes life a bit less stressful.

So, obviously I am all moved in, although still not all unpacked but all the basics are setup. 

I REALLY enjoy living alone.  The first few nights, I was actually a little sad about moving, and I felt kinda lonely.  But ever since then, I have really craved that time.  I enjoy not fighting people for a shower spot in the morning.  The place is VERY quiet, and management has been very responsive, with two full time maintenance people on staff, and a third on the way. 

One of the air conditioning compressors that provides my free central air was out when I moved in, but they have since commited to getting it replaced which should happen any day now (I hear they were already bringing in cranes) and have added a third, smaller compressor, to handle the load while we wait for the replacement.  Even so, I can’t complain, because its still 72 in my apartment (since I keep the air on all day).

Overall, while part of me will really miss my old place, I am absolutely thrilled to be out on my own two feet.
